The Wildwoods

Wildwood, NJ is located in Cape May County along the Atlantic Coast. In 1870 when the first official settlers came to this island they built a few houses and the by 1874 the government had a lighthouse built to aid sea vessels that were treading the dangerous waters around this island.

By 1884 a rail road and bridge was built connecting it to the main land of New Jersey bringing in new settlers and vacationers. It would take 11 more years before this town was officially established at an independent city.

The growth of this town was considerably slower than the surrounding towns as far as being a resort destination, but eventually it would join its neighboring towns and become well-known by tourists from around the world.

Three communities beaches run together to create one of the most beautiful white sandy coast along the New Jersey Shores. The best thing about these beaches is it is a free access beach! Yes you read it right FREE! On this beach you can go swimming, sunbathe, skim-boarding, surfing, sailing, snorkeling, or just about anything you can think of. The sky is the limit here and you are only bound by your imagination (of coarse it goes without saying to make sure and obey the local laws and regulations.

You will also be able to watch and partake in many of the local activities going on through out the summer like, volleyball tournaments, monster truck rallies, concerts, international kite festival, and even be able to watch movies on the beach. Wow! What excitement! A vacation here is going to be fun for your entire family and you will be able to take home memories of a lifetime.

One of best qualities of Wildwood is how this town seems to have quit evolving since the 50’s. You’ll still find the modern essential that are needed, but the locals pride themselves in providing an atmosphere of an error gone by. Everyone will seem laid back and friendly in this town, because they can’t help themselves in a paradise like this.

One of the biggest attraction in Wildwood other than the beaches and the town it’s self is the five amusement piers where you can find carnival games, souvenir shops, water parks, roller coasters and restaurants. The boardwalk is over two miles long and you will have a hard time seeing and doing everything that is there. There water park is in two locations and they have a trolley car called the “Tramcar” to goes from one end of this enormous boardwalk to the other.
