Sandy Hook


If you are looking to vacation at a beach within the New Jersey area, then try looking into the beautiful Sandy Hook Beach. It is sitting on six miles of sandy beach stretch across the northernmost ocean shores of New Jersey on the Atlantic Ocean. There are no access frees to the beach only a parking fee that cost a little more on weekends. The beach is free of boardwalks and is a great place for sunbathers.

Come early to insure a good parking spot, but even if that can’t be found, you will only have a short walk to where there will be plenty of beach space available. You will also find relaxing activities such as fishing, surfing, swimming, and sunbathing all throughout the six miles of this beautiful sandy beach.

If site seeing is more up your ally, than try touring Fort Hancock Museum, this museum will take you on a tour and tell you about the history of The Sandy Hook Lighthouse located in the same area. The light house was designed and built in 1764 by Isaac Conro and is America’s oldest standing lighthouse. It was built to direct mariners entering the southern end of the New York harbor and is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook.

Sandy Hook’s neighboring town, Highlands, offers many other attractions that includes fine dining with cuisine from around the world such as Italian, Jamaican, and Thai restaurants, just to name a few. Manhattan is about an hours drive away from Sandy Hook Beach and Highlands. This is a great way to be able to visit the big city without having to say overnight.
