Ocean City


Ocean City, NJ is located along the coast of New Jersey in Cape May County. During the summer months the population is around 110,000 people, but year round residents is around 15,000. This town first became popular with a christen group who used it as a camp site for meetings in the late 1800’s.

This group changed the name of this town from Peck’s Beach to Ocean City and established the “Ocean City Association.” From this point on the town started gaining popularity as a family resort destination which still caries on today. Alcohol of any kind is prohibited in this city, which adds to the family atmosphere that was originally established by the founders of Ocean City.

In Ocean City you will find eight miles of sandy white beaches with many fun activities throughout the town. Here you can sunbathe on the beach by the Atlantic Ocean, go swimming, fishing, rafting, scuba diving, or surfing while the lifeguards watch over the safety of you and your loved ones. You can also obtain a permit to have a beach buggy or walk along the boardwalk where you’re bound to find a variety of amusements to entertain you and your family.

Several of Ocean City’s attractions are on the boardwalk and include places like Congo Falls Miniature Golf or Gillian’s Wonderland Pier where you can ride amusement rides by the ocean. Another local favorite attraction is Jilly’s Arcade or Playland Park that. Other attractions your kids are bound to love is their fun filled playgrounds or you can get them involved in the arts and crafts, field trips or sports instruction clinics that they offer to the public.
Ocean City advertises that they have more special events during the summer months than any other resort along the New Jersey Shore. For instance, they put on a parade with boats that is called “Night in Venice.” You can also enter into as many of their contests as you want, like their sand-sculpting contests, freckle contests, twin contests, fishing or surfing tournaments, or BBQ contests.
