Manasquan


Manasquan NJ was first visited by the Lenni Lenape Indians that gave it its name. The name Manasquan translates into “Steam of the Island of Squaws.” They had legal rights to the area in and around Manasquan, that were then known as the squatters rights which allowed them the exclusive right to fish and hunt along the river. Records of Manasquan date back to the year 1685 where there are written records and a deed date.
The Bailey Reed House is a museum in Manasquan at 105 South Street where you can go to learn more historical facts about the history of this New Jersey beach town.

Manasquan is referred to as “The Treasure of the Jersey Shore” because of their key attractions. Here they have a long white sandy beach & board walk along with many beach activities, and merchants that are described as being both friendly and laid back.

Among the many beach activities that you can participate in, is surfing. It is one of the local favorites and The Inlet Beach is the place that will be thriving with surfers from all over the country. The Inlet Beach is known to the locals as their premium surfing spot, where the wind and tied generate some of the best surfing all along the Jersey Shore. At the marina you can also charter a boat to do some deep sea fishing or scuba diving.

Manasquan is also a poplar destination for the younger or young at heart crowd. You can stay at some of the hotels right in town and walk to all the clubs. Fine restaurants are not in short supply either. Up, down, and all around, Manasquan you will find many different styles of cuisine to choose from.

Carlson’s Corner is a snack bar just west of the beach where you could grab a quick bite between your busy fun filled scheduled activities. This is where you competitive types can sign up for the surfing or fishing contests that they host. Directions: On NJ-34 South you will merge onto Atlantic Ave./CR-524 SPUR towards SEA GIRT/MANASQUAN. Pass through 1 roundabout. Turn right onto Broad St/Cr-20. This will end at Manasquan, NJ.
