Bay Head
| In the year 2000 the population of Bay Head, NJ was around 1,200 people. This small charming sea side town is one that relishes themselves in tranquility and relaxation. The town was named Bay Head by mistake due to a misprint on a railroad sign in the 1880’s, it was actually supposed to have been Bayhead, but due to the railroad sign the name stuck. | Ever since the 1800’s Bay Head has been a popular resort destination, and the town is still popular today due to how they have maintained their old-fashioned seaside virtues. This town has been descried at “the crown jewel” because of the strand of beaches that make up the Barnegat Beach Island. There are many attractions in this small New Jersey town like the Atlantic Ocean. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, surfing, boating, scuba diving and many other water sports on the beaches that are watched over by lifeguards.
They have several specialty stores and galleries that have a wide selection of unique items. Most of their local merchants are selling their items from buildings that have their own history and have been in the town 100 years or more. You can stroll up and down the streets of Bay Head and see the well-kept buildings that house these stores or take a walk down a residential area and view the preserved Victorian homes. As you’re strolling or riding down the streets of Bay Head you will also notice that they have Victorian style hotels and B&B along the way. One of these B&B’s is Conover’s Bay Head Inn that was one of the first B&B’s in the state of New Jersey. If you would like to dine wile cursing on the Barnegat Bay, then look into Liberte’s. This 56’ wooden Chris Craft yacht offers a private catered dinning, while cursing the Barnegat Bay. Besides private dining you can enjoy charter them to have cocktail parties, luncheons, meetings, fund raising events, or any special occasion you have in mind. Directions: From the North you take NJ Turnpike to Exit 11 to NJ Garden State Parkway to exit 98. Route 34 South to Route 35 South. Take Route 35 South through Point Pleasant Beach Pleasant Beach to Bay Head. |
